From the recording Be Good To Yourself - The Music
Who knew that “Pills,” a favorite song from the New York Dolls debut album, was written by…Bo Diddley?!! The DeFactos didn’t - not that this info altered the course of this funhouse-fever-dream version. Drafted on 24-hours notice, singer Bruce Hazel (Temperance League) delivered a vocal worthy of a straitjacket. And Chris Garges’ gonzo Wizzard-inspired arrangement takes a punkish foundation and turns it hallucinogenic. Accordion? Cello? Saxophones? WTF?
It will haunt your dreams.

Lyrics
As I was lyin' in a hospital bed
A rock n roll nurse goin' to my head
Said, hold out your arm, boy, stick out your tongue
I gots some pills I wanna give you some
She went to my head, to my head
Rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head
To my head, to my head
'Cause I was lyin' in a hospital bed
A little pill for my legs, but they don't ache
Tried some pills for my heart, just a little to late
Tried some pills for my love, to give me the ease
The rock n roll nurse shook me to my knees
She went to my head, to my head
A rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head
To my head, to my head
'Cause I was lyin' in a hospital bed
Nursey nursey, well I don't see
I can't understand what you're doin' to me
Said you give me the pills, then you give me a shot
You got me wonderin' just what I got
And she went to my head, to my head
A rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head
To my head, to my head
'Cause I was lyin' in a hospital bed
Well doctor, doctor, come here and see
I don't think the job the nurse is givin' to me
She gives me the shots, gives me the pills
I'm takin' all this junk against my will
To my head, to my head
A rock n roll nurse, goin' to my head
To my head, to my head
I was lyin' in a hospital bed
Ooh, the rock and roll nurse
Ooh, she's the worst
